Yesterday afternoon at Frantoio Valsanterno was held a demonstration lesson of olive pruning organized by ARPO (National Association of Olive Growers). The event, held in our olive grove, was organized for free for over 80 participants.
Immersed in the rows of our olive grove, the ARPO experts carried out a demonstration aimed at providing participants with the necessary information to carry out the perfect pruning: a crucial operation for the productive recovery of the olive tree, waiting for the good season to wake up.
The best time to prune is, in fact, the end of winter, when the plant is in a state of productive rest. Anticipating too much this activity at a time when temperatures are still unstable, however, could accelerate the process of awakening and productivity of the olive tree causing serious damage to the vegetative restart of the plant.
Particular attention was also paid to demonstrating the importance of the shape given to the olive tree, which will affect the production of fruits and the well-being of the plant.
We thank all the speakers and ARPO for the collaboration and the valuable information provided.
